The Ace Egos Fortune

The Golden Gifts of Life
The guidance we need is always in front of us. Via the reality that we face and what we process in real-time. And also in a more undetectable way – via the story that has an ever-changing shape, cadence, and tone – right inside of us. Finding meaning in the intersection of these is something we often seek out, or at least something we are curious about. Wherever one goes to find ‘guidance,’ the hope it brings gives us radiance. Guidance doesn’t have to be definitive or foreboding, rather a mirror that helps reframe our behaviours, so we may forge ahead in positivity.
I have spent the last few months slowly building a ‘Fortune Telling practice’ which I have called the ‘Ace Egos Fortune.’ For someone receiving this fortune, it focuses on four areas: Challenge, Superpower, Ascension, and Energy. As it was almost fully fleshed out, serendipitous timing found me in Kyoto, Japan. A special energy runs through this beautiful city. Walking along the ‘Philosopher’s Path’ – a narrow stone walkway that runs beside a trickling river, dotted by cherry blossoms – the fifth and final piece came to me: The Fortune offers you one of twelve Golden Gifts.
Immediately upon waking up the next morning, the first two Golden Gifts popped into my head: The ‘Samurai Sword,’ and the ‘Music Box.’ From there, the other ten just flowed out. The ‘Music Box’ was something that I realised captured my experience of Kyoto and Japan. Perfectly designed. So delicate it seems frail. Yet, take a closer look, and it is robust and dependable. Built on mystery and wisdom, that runs through every aspect of its nature and its culture. It sinks in deep. Like a recurring melody. One that you wind up, all of the gears and cogs settling into place, then letting it go, and being mesmerised by the sweet music that flows forth. And henceforth, the Golden Gift of the ‘Music Box’ is my connection with this story.
The Ace Egos Fortune
Let’s do a quick unpacking of an Ace Egos Fortune. A Fortune is determined through a web of symbology that begins with four symbols in Nature: Ocean, River, Mountain, Sun. These have four corresponding aspects: Appearance, Thought, Feeling, Expression. Appearances are all that appears to you. And how it appears to you. Sensory experiences. Other people. Influence. Interactions. Expressions are the various ways you express yourself. And how you express yourself. Words, looks, gestures, body language, movement. Thoughts are thoughts, and Feelings are, well, feelings.
Here is a conversation two people might have, sharing their Ace Egos Fortune:
‘What did you get for your Challenge? ~ I got “Clarity.” ~ Wow …’
‘What did you get for your Superpower? ~ I got “Sensual.” ~ Ooo sexy …’
‘What’s your Ascension? ~ I got “Share community with those global.” ~ Very nice.’
‘And your Energy? ~ It is “Rise like the Mountain.” ~ Uyy, that’s powerful.’
This video shows an example of reading an Ace Egos Fortune.
There are twelve types of ‘Challenge.’ The guidance of Challenge suggests a shift in what you focus on in life, prioritising one aspect over the other. For example, the Challenge for ‘Romantic’ is that when thoughts are present, to be more present with feelings. For the Challenge of ‘Boundaries,’ the Fortune suggests to be guided by feelings rather than appearances. To guard your heart and reduce inviting in other energies.
‘Superpower’ reminds you of two aspects that you have a unique affinity with. Maybe it is an untapped potential, or something you already do. The Fortune literally tells you that your Superpower is ‘your ability to …’ . Some examples of Superpower are the ‘Visionary’ (‘Align appearances with feelings’) and ‘Performer’ (‘Align expressions with appearances).’
‘Ascension’ is a simple affirmation that guides you to what you are looking for in your Fortune. For example, ‘Make life more playful.’ If you heed the advice of Ascension, you will ascend to a more fulfilled version of you.
And finally, ‘Energy’ is your nature, your home. What you can always depend upon. The Fortune offers it to you in homage to the unique and magical ‘energy’ that you are. This part of the Fortune circles back to Nature, because ultimately, we only need to look to Nature to recognise a way to be, that is natural, inspirational, and full of great power. The four results of Energy are:
- Immaculate reverence ~ All-encompassing ~ Open like the Ocean.
- Victorious grace ~ All-accomplishing ~ Flow like the River.
- Majestic presence ~ All-conquering ~ Rise like the Mountain.
- Divine radiance ~ All-illuminating ~ Shine like the Sun.
As a fun bonus to the Fortune, you are given a ‘Golden Gift.’ It is a token to remind you of your path. Some examples of a Golden Gift are Treasure Map, Sunflower, Dream Catcher, and Leather Jacket.
And this completes the Ace Egos Fortune.
Time for Contemplation
In my recent travels I went from Kyoto to Hanoi, Vietnam. A very different energy lives here. There is noise, there is unpredictability. But enchanting in its own way. I’ve been delighted and humbled in learning of the many spiritual and philosophical roots of Vietnam. And that ‘Fortune Telling’ is a part of its history, although at times restricted by government. Nonetheless, in a country that has endured intense uncertainty and hardship, the people looked to these sorts of practices for comfort. Walking down the maze-like alleys shrouded in a red glow of lanterns, stacked dwellings of Oriental and French colonial architecture, it has an alluring mystery that feels out of time.
Fortune Telling is an integral aspect of Eastern spiritual traditions. Unexplained phenomena exists in all parts of the world, across branches of religion, spirituality, psychology, and popular culture. As spirit, energy, or whatever term may befit it, drifts throughout the world, it is no surprise that we have astrology, numerology, tea leaf reading and the like; with practices ranging from the I-Ching to Communion to Tarot.
We all have our ‘go to’ practices. Some things we resonate with. Some things we may find strange, scary, or stupid. The importance of a reconciled world lies in – just as we can have very profound growth within ourselves, through accepting our own light and shadow – we accept others as they are, in all the wonderful ways they are.
What does the future hold? However we make sense of what has happened in the past. And how we allow that to fuel a dynamic and celebratory dance with what is happening in the present. Maybe the future already knows, and is the one guiding us? The important point is, at various times along the path, we gather ourselves, breathe, and continue forward. Recalibrating is so important for positive growth. Any activity or non-activity (doing nothing – just resting) helps us look at our ‘big picture’ from another angle. And ensures that the path we walk is more healthy, happy, and aligned with who we truly want to be.
